Job summary

SYSTEM West Virginia University Health System is seeking an accounting professional to support month-end financial statements. This role covers documentation, schedules, and payroll duties within Accounting and Budgeting.

The position requires a BS in Accounting/Finance or equivalent experience, with responsibilities spanning variance analysis, capital budgets, and journal entries to support audits.

This position performs a wide range of accounting functions to support the month-end financial statement process of WVU Medicine. Completes documentation and schedules during month-end, budget preparation and external audit. Performs the duties of payroll representative for Accounting and Budgeting.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

• Bachelor of Science degree with a major or concentration in Accounting or Finance; OR High school diploma or equivalent AND Five (5) years’ experience in project management, accounting, payroll or accounts payable system.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Evaluates financial processes to maximize efficiency in the daily accounting operations. Ensures that internal control measures are being followed.
• Investigates and communicates any variance issues in responsibility areas to supervisor or department director/manager.
• Assists construction Project Managers with questions related to capital budgets, purchase commitments, and invoice payments.
• Reconciles invoice payments with purchase commitments and verify appropriate application of sales/use tax to support month-end closing and financing draw-downs.
• Assists Procure-To-Pay resolve open purchase commitments and unpaid invoices.
• Analyzes and distributes construction payroll to capital projects on a monthly basis.
• Prepares journal entries as needed.
• Assists in disposing of surplus capital assets.
• Assists in completing and compiling financial support documentation for budget and external audit purposes.
• Participates in educational opportunities as provided by the hospital to enhance skill related abilities.
• Supports performance improvement and quality assurance initiatives.
