Job summary

Grassi & Co., CPA's P.C. in New York is seeking an Accounting Services Manager to lead our Client Accounting Services (CAS) team.

You will oversee financial reporting, technical accounting engagement work plans, and coach staff to develop technical proficiency while delivering superior client service. The role requires a CPA-advantaged background, 6+ years in public accounting or high-net-worth client accounting, and strong leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA designation strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in public accounting, family office services, or high-net-worth client accounting support.
  • Demonstrated success managing client relationships and leading engagements.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial information and provide meaningful insights.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to mentor and develop team members.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience interacting with executives and high-net-worth clients.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day accounting and financial operations for multiple clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Serve as trusted advisor and primary client contact, delivering exceptional service and fostering long-term relationships.
  • Research complex technical accounting topics and applicable guidance and regulations.
  • Review and approve bill payments, wire transfers, and disbursements with strong internal controls.
  • Oversee reconciliations for bank, brokerage, and credit card accounts.
  • Maintain books for individuals, trusts, and partnerships.
  • Review journal entries, financial statements, and month-end close activities.
  • Assist team with year-end vendor review for 1099 processing.
  • Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop staff and senior accountants.
  • Coordinate multiple client engagements and ensure timely delivery of all deliverables.
  • Monitor expense reporting processes and ensure proper documentation and compliance.

Job Summary

Grassi is seeking an Accounting Services Manager to join our Client Accounting Services (CAS) team within our growing firm. The CAS Manager position has the primary responsibility of oversight of the Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting engagement work plans. As a leader of the group, the Manager will demonstrate excellent project management skills, client service, and positive coaching to the team members in developing technical and professional competency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of multiple clients to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and primary client contact, delivering exceptional service and fostering long-term relationships.
  • Research complex technical accounting topics, identify relevant guidance, and corresponding regulations.
  • Review and approve bill payments, wire transfers, and check disbursements while maintaining strong internal controls and effective cash management practices.
  • Oversee reconciliations for bank accounts, brokerage accounts, and credit cards to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Maintain accurate books and records for individuals, trusts, partnerships, and related entities.
  • Review journal entries, financial statements, and month-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Assist team with year-end vendor review for 1099 processing.
  • Analyze financial performance, identify trends and variances, and provide actionable recommendations to clients.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop staff and senior accountants through coaching, feedback, and performance management.
  • Coordinate multiple client engagements and ensure all deliverables are completed on schedule.
  • Monitor expense reporting processes and ensure proper documentation and compliance procedures are followed.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and operational efficiencies across accounting workflows and systems.
  • Collaborate with firm leadership on strategic initiatives, onboarding activities, and special projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA designation strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in public accounting, family office services, or high-net-worth client accounting support.
  • Demonstrated success managing client relationships and leading engagements.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial information and provide meaningful insights.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to mentor and develop team members.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience interacting with executives and high-net-worth clients.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced proficiency with accounting technologies including Excel, QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, Expensify and other accounting software preferred. Experience with ProSystem fx Engagement a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and commitment to client service excellence.

CPA Incentive: Financial assistance toward the achievement of the CPA certification which includes the cost of the CPA study materials, CPA exam registration and sitting fees for all 4 parts (up to 2 x per part), plus the CPA application and licensing fees. Compensation for this role is determined based on a combination of factors, including but not limited to your relevant experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Salary ranges are provided to offer transparency and may vary depending on final candidate qualifications and local market conditions. Please find compensation information below for candidates residing in the following market(s):

New York ranges are from $130,000 – $150,000
