Security Benefit is seeking an Accounting Policy Intern to join a collaborative, agile team. The intern may work remotely or in a hybrid capacity from Topeka or Overland Park, Kansas.

Start with 10-20 hours per week, with potential to expand across semesters and gain hands-on experience using AI in technical accounting. You will assist with AI-supported research on US GAAP/NAIC guidance, contribute to regulatory tools, and help document accounting policy processes while learning across financial

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Interest in applying AI tools to real business and research problems.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication.
• Willingness to learn across multiple financial systems.
• Ability to work independently with guidance.

Responsibilities

• Use AI tools to build and organize a technical accounting knowledge repository.
• Support research on US GAAP and NAIC guidance using real transactions.
• Maintain and enhance regulatory tracking tools and summaries.
• Assist PBBD initiatives with documentation and onboarding considerations.
• Draft summaries and materials for accounting policy memos.
• Document and streamline Accounting Policy processes and AI day-to-day usage.
• Participate in cross-functional discussions to learn investment accounting and financial reporting.
