Job summary

Jones-Hamilton Co. is seeking an Accounting & Payroll Specialist to join our Finance team. This role focuses on payroll processing, accounts payable, inventory reconciliation, and financial reporting.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years’ experience in payroll and accounts payable or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of payroll laws and regulations.
  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).

Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly and bonus payroll using the HRIS system.
  • Manage payroll deductions and garnishments.
  • Manage employer HSA contributions.
  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees and management.
  • Perform regular inventory reconciliations to ensure accuracy of inventory records.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in inventory counts.
  • Collaborate with inventory management to improve accuracy and processes.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Assist with annual finance audits.
  • Prepare and maintain various accounting reconciliations and records.
  • Support the accounting team with ad-hoc projects and tasks.

Jones-Hamilton Co. is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting & Payroll Specialist to join our Finance team. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys working with payroll, accounts payable, inventory reconciliation, and financial reporting processes.

As an Accounting & Payroll Specialist, you'll play a key role in ensuring payroll accuracy, maintaining financial records, supporting audits, and helping drive operational excellence across our accounting functions. Requirements
Responsibilities
  • Process bi-weekly and bonus payroll using the HRIS system.
  • Manage payroll deductions and garnishments.
  • Manage employer HSA contributions.
  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees and management.
  • Perform regular inventory reconciliations to ensure accuracy of inventory records.

  • Collaborate with the inventory management team to improve inventory accuracy and processes.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Assist with annual finance audit

  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Must pass drug screening as required.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field preferred, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: 3-5 years’ experience in payroll and accounts payable or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of payroll laws and regulations.
  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity.
  • Must pass drug screening as required.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
  • Office environment with standard working hours, may require occasional overtime during peak periods or month-end close.
  • The job involves primarily sedentary work, requiring prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or computer workstation to perform administrative tasks.
  • Extensive use of computers and office equipment is essential for tasks such as drafting documents, managing databases, sending emails, and scheduling appointments. This requires proficient typing skills and the ability to operate office software efficiently.
  • Tasks such as typing, filing, organizing documents, and operating office equipment require good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Strong visual and auditory abilities are essential for reading and reviewing documents, communicating effectively, and engaging in face-to-face or virtual meetings.
