Progress Rail Services Corp. is seeking an Accounting/Finance Student Intern in Albertville, AL. This role provides exposure to journal entries, financial reporting, budgeting, and accounts payable tasks within a large public company division.

You will learn to work with cross-functional teams, perform balance sheet analyses, and use data analytics to support decision making, all while developing industry knowledge in a global rail business.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a business/finance major with interest in accounting principles.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and basic reporting tools encouraged.
• Strong analytical and communication abilities required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and enter a variety of journal entries (standard entries, accruals, etc.).
• Assist with preparation and analysis of financial statements and reports.
• Perform balance sheet analysis and reconcile GL accounts.
• Support software system for financial reporting.
• Enter accounts payable invoices accurately and timely.
• Communicate with internal and external customers on AP inquiries.
• Perform customer billing activities.
• Contribute to budgeting and financial analytics tasks.
• Utilize data analytics tools for reporting.
• Ensure compliance with department standards and GAAP.

Key Job Elements:

• Preparation and entry of a variety of journal entries (standard entries, accruals, etc.);

• Perform balance sheet analysis, reconcile various general ledger accounts, and maintain supporting documentation for multiple legal entities;

Education / Training:

• Business related major;


• Accounting Principles Class I & II; preferred.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Good Interpersonal and communication skills;
