Job description

In your capacity as an Accounting Operations Specialist at Novatae Risk Group, LLC, you will take on a key position in our operations, primarily concentrating on Surplus Lines Tax Filings. Your crucial responsibility will be to guarantee rigorous compliance with surplus lines tax regulations and guidelines. This encompasses accurately and promptly submitting surplus lines tax forms, meticulously maintaining compliance records, and facilitating productive communication with regulatory authorities. This office role calls for acute attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a comprehensive understanding of commercial insurance taxation. This will be a remote role.

Qualifications:
  • Responsible for weekly and monthly GL Account Report Maintenance and identifying improvements/discrepancies.
  • Work within the accounting operations team to improve processes by understanding all processes and eliciting requirements through document analysis, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, and business analysis.
  • Perform refund analysis, direct bill processing, and reconciliation.
  • Support Surplus Lines and Taxes within the insurance industry.
  • Critically evaluate information from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, and abstract up from low-level data.
  • Utilize analytical tools to identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Support Business Units by investigating and resolving ad-hoc payment-related inquiries.
  • Act as primary contact for brokers, business partners, and external vendors to address policy discrepancies.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of Accounting Operations functions and recommend process improvements.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience (1+ years) in compliance positions within the insurance industry.
  • In-depth understanding of insurance taxation and regulatory compliance.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in industry-specific software and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with surplus lines tax requirements across various states.
