Job summary

AccruePartners is seeking a hands-on Head of Accounting for our Dayton operation. You will own the general ledger integrity, GAAP-compliant financial statements, and all month-end close activities, while guiding the AP/AR, billing, and intercompany processes.

You will manage the Cost Analyst and AP Specialist, partner with the CFO on budgeting, and help implement robust controls as the company grows. Strong construction accounting experience and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction accounting experience preferred
• Experience in a union environment with payroll and fringe benefit reporting
• Strong command of GAAP, month-end close, reconciliations and job cost accounting
• Experience supervising accounting staff
• CFMA certification (CCIFP) highly desired
• Excel skills and financial analysis/variance reporting
• Strong organizational skills and dependability

Responsibilities

• Own the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and GAAP-compliant statements
• Oversee monthly balance sheet and income statement reconciliations and intercompany activity
• Manage AP, AR, billing and collections to ensure timely vendor payments and accurate invoicing
• Develop and lead the Cost Analyst and Accounts Payable Specialist
• Analyze variances against budget and prior periods and propose corrective actions
• Support CFO with operating plan, budgeting, and ad-hoc analyses
• Assist external audits and internal controls implementation
• Lead office operations including facilities and compliance documentation

WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT

• Serve as the hands-on accounting leader for the Dayton operation, owning the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and supporting the Controller in preparing timely, GAAP-compliant financial statements
• Own monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet and income statement accounts, along with bank reconciliations, fixed assets, payroll entries, credit card and expense reconciliations, and intercompany chargebacks
• Oversee AP, AR, billing and collections to keep vendor payments timely and customer invoicing accurate
• Manage and develop the Cost Analyst and Accounts Payable Specialist
• Analyze performance against budget and prior periods, identify variances and recommend corrective actions to improve profitability and reduce unnecessary spend
• Partner with the CFO on the annual operating plan and budget by entity, and deliver ad-hoc analysis to support strategic decisions
• Support external audits and due diligence, conduct periodic internal audits, and develop policies and controls that reduce fraud and compliance risk
• Work with the outside CPA firm on tax returns and ensure timely remittance of payroll, property and other tax obligations
• Help implement and maintain financial systems while protecting data security and integrity
• Lead office operations and administration, including facilities, vendors, licenses and permits, fleet registrations, company records, onboarding and offboarding logistics, and regulatory and compliance documentation

THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS

• 5+ years of construction accounting experience preferred
• Experience in a union environment, including union payroll and fringe benefit reporting
• Strong command of GAAP, month-end close, account reconciliations and job cost accounting
• Experience supervising accounting staff
• Sage Intacct and Yooz experience strongly preferred
• CFMA certification (CCIFP) highly desired
• Strong Excel skills and comfort with financial analysis and variance reporting
• Highly organized and dependable, with the flexibility to balance technical accounting work with broad administrative responsibility
