Job Overview – Accounting Manager (Temporary)

Compensation: $50 – $75/hour

Location: New York, NY

Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)

Atlantic Group is hiring an Accounting Manager (Temporary) in New York, NY for our client, supporting general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and accounting operations within a fast-paced corporate environment. This role will oversee accounting processes, month-end close activities, reconciliations, reporting functions, and team leadership initiatives while partnering closely with finance and operational teams. The ideal candidate is hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and experienced managing accounting operations within complex business environments.

Responsibilities

• General Ledger Management: Oversee general ledger accounting activities, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting processes.
• Month-End Close: Manage month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate completion of deliverables.
• Financial Reporting: Support preparation of financial statements, reporting packages, and accounting analysis in accordance with GAAP standards.
• Payroll & Expense Oversight: Review payroll accounting activity, accruals, expense reporting, and related reconciliations.
• Team Leadership: Supervise and support junior accounting staff while assisting with workflow management and process oversight.
• Process Improvement: Assist with accounting process enhancements, reporting efficiencies, internal controls, and operational initiatives.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is required.
• Experience: 5+ years of accounting experience within public accounting, corporate accounting, or related financial environments is required.
• Certifications: CPA or CPA‑track background is strongly preferred.
• Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, reconciliations, month-end close, and accounting operations is required.
• Technical Skills: NetSuite experience is strongly preferred, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and financial reporting systems.
• Skills & Attributes: Strong analytical skills, leadership abilities, attention to detail, communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities within a deadline‑driven environment are required.
