Job summary

The Nuclear Company is a fast-growing AI-enabled startup in the nuclear and energy space, pioneering scalable, cost-effective nuclear energy solutions. The Accounting Manager will own the books, drive accurate reporting, and partner with leadership to scale the finance function for institutional investors.

You will collaborate with Controller, FP&A, and project teams, ensuring a solid financial foundation as the company raises capital and expands operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public or corporate accounting, with at least 2 years in supervision.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and month-end close processes.
• Proficiency with an ERP or accounting system and advanced Excel skills.
• Strong understanding of internal controls and audit readiness.
• Ability to communicate clearly with non-accountants, including project and engineering leaders.
• Comfort with ambiguity, speed, and shifting priorities in a startup environment.
• Experience in construction, energy, power, utilities, or other capital-intensive industries.

Responsibilities

• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close with journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and flux analysis.
• Prepare and review financial statements per U.S. GAAP; support investor reporting.
• Oversee accounts payable, cash management, and payroll, incl. project payments.
• Capitalize project costs; manage development to construction transition.
• Support job cost accounting and project cost tracking with controls.
• Manage intercompany accounting and related-party transactions.
• Support accounting for equity, debt, and financing arrangements.
• Apply tech accounting guidance to JV, government grants, tax credits, etc.
• Coordinate with auditors, tax advisors, and investors during audits.
• Maintain accounting policies and internal controls for a new company.
