Job summary

Liberty Utilities, a subsidiary of Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp., is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead general accounting and financial reporting for Liberty Utilities operations in a hybrid role based in Litchfield Park, AZ. The role partners with Finance, Regulatory, and Operations to drive efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.

The successful candidate will oversee month-end close, regulatory accounting, and external audits, while mentoring a team of accountants and analysts to deliver

Qualifications

• University degree or equivalent in accounting or finance.
• CPA designation (CPA Canada or equivalent).
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting and internal controls.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience in utilities or regulated industries.
• FERC/NARUC expertise/compliance.
• Experience with SAP.
• Knowledge of regulatory accounting practices.
• SOX compliance and external audit experience.
• Strong technical accounting and reporting skills.
• Proven leadership and team development abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities.
• Ensure timely preparation of financial statements and reporting packages.
• Review journal entries, reconciliations, and analyses.
• Support regulatory filings, rate applications, and related accounting analyses.
• Lead and develop a team of accountants and analysts.
• Partner with operations and finance leaders to provide accounting guidance.
