Job summary

Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp. (AQN), parent company of Liberty Utilities, seeks an Accountant III to support month-end and year-end close, financial reporting, and regulatory duties.

You will collaborate across departments to ensure accuracy, compliance, and process improvement in a dynamic utility environment. The role emphasizes journal entries, reconciliations, audits, and financial analysis with a strong GAAP foundation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or equivalent in accounting or related field.
• Experience in utility, energy, or regulated industry is a plus.
• Experience with SAP systems preferred.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with closing schedules.
• Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports and schedules.
• Investigate variances and unusual account activity.
• Support financial statement preparation and disclosures.
• Prepare reconciliations of balance sheets and general ledger accounts.
• Assist with audit coordination and responses.
