Job summary

Rainier Pure Beef Company in Woodland, WA seeks a Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager to lead month-end close, manage GL, reconciliations, inventory and cost accounting, and financial reporting. You will supervise AP/AR staff and collaborate with Operations, Procurement, Sales to ensure accurate records and reliable metrics.

The role reports to the Director of Finance & Accounting and supports budgeting, forecasting, lender reporting, audits, and internal controls improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of three to five years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on month-end close, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Solid working knowledge of GAAP and accrual-based accounting.
• Experience reviewing the work of others, training staff, or leading accounting team members.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP or accounting systems.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain accounting matters to non-financial employees.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post monthly journal entries with complete and accurate supporting documentation.
• Coordinate and execute the month-end and year-end close calendar, ensuring deadlines are met and close tasks are completed accurately.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for review by the Director of Finance & Accounting.
• Oversee daily accounts payable and accounts receivable activity, including invoice processing, vendor payments, customer billing, cash application, and collections.
• Monitor daily cash reporting and support cash-flow forecasting.
• Follow and help strengthen internal controls, segregation of duties, and approval procedures that safeguard Company assets.
• Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for annual financial statement reviews or audits, and serve as a point of contact for external accountants.
• Support tax and regulatory compliance, including Washington business and occupation (B&O) tax, sales and use tax, property tax, and Form 1099 reporting.
• Document accounting policies, procedures, and desk instructions and keep them current.
• Serve as a knowledgeable user of the Company's ERP and accounting systems and help other departments use them effectively.
• Identify opportunities to automate, streamline, and improve accounting and reporting processes.
• Build and maintain Excel-based tools, reports, and reconciliation templates that improve accuracy and efficiency.
• Participate in ERP, reporting, and other system projects as assigned.
