Commonwealth Engineers, Inc. in Indianapolis North is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead day-to-day accounting operations and support engineering-focused service delivery.

You will report to the CFO and drive payroll, financial reporting, and billing activities with a hands-on leadership style. The ideal candidate has 10+ years of progressive accounting experience in a professional services environment and a track record of staff leadership, process improvements, and strong Excel/Deltek

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience in engineering, architecture, consulting, or professional services preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership with staff supervision and development.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Manage Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting for project financial performance and profitability.
• Assist with client invoicing for accuracy and timeliness.
• Assist with contract management ensuring billing compliance with terms; company policies.
• Monitor accounts receivable and support collections with project managers and clients.
• Oversee payroll processing and related compliance activities.
• Assist with financial reporting and month-end/year-end closing.
• Identify improvements to strengthen internal controls and efficiency.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and development for accounting team.
