Job description

Description
POSITION DESCRIPTION

EnFin is a financial services company that provides financing for residential solar PV customers, including battery storage systems. EnFin, through its affiliate, serves as the administrator (“JV Administrator”) of a newly formed joint venture with institutional capital partners to acquire and hold residential solar and storage assets. EnFin is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead the financial and servicing reporting responsibilities associated with these joint ventures.

We are seeking a professional with experience in partnership or joint-venture accounting and GAAP financial reporting, and we strongly prefer candidates with exposure to residential solar, third-party ownership (“TPO”) structures, or asset-backed/structured finance accounting. Desired areas of experience would include solar asset leases and power purchase agreements (“PPAs”), and tax equity or joint venture structures.

In this role you will need a high level of attention to detail and strong organizational skills, as this position owns a recurring, multi-party reporting calendar with hard contractual deadlines owed to an external institutional partner. Communicating with internal and external stakeholders is key, in addition to coordinating activities across multiple departments and functions to help drive our residential renewable finance business. EnFin's operations are growing rapidly; we expect to increase transaction volume and enter new financing transactions, including additional joint ventures. We are looking for someone who thrives in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment, can properly apply judgment to make decisions, and can execute a fixed reporting calendar with discipline while addressing issues with imperfect information.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Own the joint venture's general ledger and books and records, maintained separately from other EnFin-affiliated entities in accordance with each joint venture's operating agreement.
  • Prepare quarterly unaudited and annual audited consolidated financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement, and statement of members' equity) in accordance with GAAP and manage the annual audit process with the joint venture's independent certified public accountants.
  • Assist in preparation of the joint venture's annual operating budget and maintain the underlying financial model, tracking actuals against budget and flagging variances for management reporting.
  • Oversee cash sweep and treasury mechanics between servicing collection accounts and joint venture operating/distribution accounts, and monitor depositary bank qualification requirements.
  • Support Schedule K-1 preparation, IRS notices, and other partnership-level tax matters, including tracking tax elections and their effect on capital accounts alongside the EnFin tax team.
  • Coordinate with our tax team for sales tax management for underlying purchased assets.
  • Track and reconcile milestone and true-up payments under project purchase agreements against purchase price obligations.
  • Review and reconcile monthly O&M/servicer reporting packages and invoices, including validation of non-covered services fees and pass-through costs prior to payment.
  • Establish processes for key deliverables and lead continuous improvement activities to achieve effective, efficient execution.
  • Partner closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., Legal, Tax, Financial Planning and Analysis, Asset Management) to build an understanding of the key processes within the organization's operations.
  • Drive process change and efficiencies by optimizing processes, identifying opportunities for automation, and building for scale, ensuring all solutions are compliant with GAAP and company policies.
  • Willing and able to embrace the use of artificial intelligence in driving process efficiencies.
  • Assist with EnFin’s own revenue recognition (and related accounting) for projects sold to the joint venture.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related area.
  • 5–8 years progressive accounting, financial reporting, and finance experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with partnership or joint-venture accounting, including capital account maintenance and allocations.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and databases.
  • Ability to execute in a dynamic, fast-paced, and demanding environment against fixed, contractual deadlines.
  • Ability to influence across the company and interact at all levels, including with external institutional partners.
  • Knowledge of accounting for residential solar assets, including construction, leases, and PPA/servicing arrangements.
  • Experience with internal controls and process improvement.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, problem-solving, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills.
  • Experience with revenue recognition policies and technical accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP financial reporting for joint ventures and equity-method investees.
  • Strong Excel, data sorting, and manipulation skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and Power Query.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a recurring, multi-party reporting calendar with hard contractual deadlines.
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented and fast-paced environment under strict deadlines.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • CPA license.
  • Experience with NetSuite.
  • Prior experience in solar, renewable energy, tax equity, or asset-backed/structured finance accounting.
  • Experience working with or managing outsourced service or O&M vendors and reconciling third-party invoices.
  • Accounting and data automation, including macro and artificial intelligence experience.
  • “Big Four” experience.
