Job summary

Mill is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager in San Bruno, CA to own operational accounting, inventory reserves, and financial reporting. You will liaise with operations, auditors, and cross-functional partners; CPA is required; 5+ years in accounting, ideally in retail or public audits.

The role involves establishing automated processes, internal controls, and leading staff growth; base salary is $150k–$170k, with 2 in-office days weekly at the San Bruno HQ.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting or related majors.
• CPA certification is required.
• 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in public audit firms and/or established retail businesses.
• High attention to detail and strong financial accounting/reporting experience (inventory/retail preferred).
• Experience in a high-growth, dynamic environment and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of operational accounting and reporting, including detailed GL reconciliation and reporting.
• Manage inventory accounting and reserves; fleet management; equity accounting and stock-based compensation.
• Draft technical accounting memos on debt, equity transactions, lessor accounting, etc.
• Liaise with Operations on manufacturing processes and reporting.
• Oversee Accounts Payable and accruals.
• Establish automated processes for financial reporting and analytics.
• Enhance internal controls around assets and financial reporting; liaise with auditors.
• Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, HR, Legal, and other leads.
• Perform other duties as assigned; assist in building accounting staff.
