Job summary

Veradermics, a biotech-focused company in New Haven, CT, is seeking an Accounting Manager to own core close processes and partner with FP&A, Legal, and cross-functional teams. The role reports to the Senior Manager, Accounting, and emphasizes GAAP compliance, streamlined close cycles, and effective internal controls.

You will collaborate on external reporting, ensure SOX readiness, and drive process improvements while supporting ERP systems like NetSuite.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• CPA preferred.
• 4-7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
• Experience with financial close processes and audits/external reporting.
• Experience working with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite or similar).

Responsibilities

• Own and execute key aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close.
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and fluctuation analyses.
• Ensure accurate accounting in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• Understand the full financial picture and proactively identify and resolve issues.
• Partner cross-functionally to ensure timely and accurate expense recognition.
• Assist with implementation and optimization of accounting systems and close processes.
• Prepare supporting schedules for and assist with drafting of SEC filings (10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, Proxy Statement, Registrations Statements).
• Assist with technical accounting research and preparation of accounting memoranda.
• Monitor emerging accounting standards and SEC reporting requirements.
• Help to design, document, and improve accounting processes and internal controls.
• Partner with the Senior Manager, Accounting and Controller to support SOX readiness and compliance initiatives.
• Build strong working relationships with FP&A, Legal, and other teams.
• Communicate accounting requirements clearly and effectively to non-finance stakeholders.
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes through close coordination with FP&A.
• Support external audits and reviews, including preparation of schedules and documentation.
