Job summary

KBW Financial Staffing & Recruiting is seeking an Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller to lead the corporate finance team. This role oversees monthly close, financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting support, and process improvements, partnering with Finance leadership to drive accuracy and efficiency.

The ideal candidate has 5–10+ years of accounting experience, CPA preferred, strong US GAAP knowledge, ERP system experience (Workday, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or Dynamics), and

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA strongly preferred.
  • 5–10+ years of progressive accounting experience within public accounting and/or corporate accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting, and general ledger accounting.
  • Experience leading or owning portions of the monthly close process.
  • Strong background in account reconciliations, financial statement preparation, variance analysis, and internal controls.
  • Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and audit processes.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with ERP systems such as Workday, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while partnering across Finance and business teams.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead key aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statements, and variance analyses.
  • Maintain ownership of balance sheet accounts, ensuring timely reconciliations and resolution of outstanding items.
  • Partner with Finance leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP, internal controls, and corporate accounting policies.
  • Support internal and external audits, regulatory reporting, and annual financial statement preparation.
  • Analyze financial results and identify trends, risks, and opportunities to improve operational performance.
  • Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and accounting efficiencies across the finance organization.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Operations, and business leaders on accounting matters and strategic initiatives.
  • Mentor and develop junior accounting staff while reviewing work and supporting professional growth.

Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller to join its growing Corporate Finance team. This individual will play a key leadership role within the accounting organization, partnering closely with Finance leadership to oversee the monthly close, financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting support, and process improvement initiatives.
