The Sporlan Division is seeking an Accounting Manager who will report to the Division Controller and play an important role within the organization. The Accounting Manager will work closely with other functional leaders and managers – supporting improved growth and profitability using strong analytical and business partnering skills. This position will be accountable for the safeguarding and ethical accounting of their sites’ assets in conformance with generally accepted accounting principles, covering domestic facilities as well as locations in Mexico and Quebec. In addition, the Accounting Manager will develop and administer the accounting function across all sites using the Win Strategy.

Essential Functions
  • Functions include budgeting, planning, internal control oversight, financial reporting both internal and external, financial performance measurement, financial system implementation, and technical accounting support and guidance.
  • Continually review the accounting requirements of the Division and direct the development and installation of appropriate systems.
  • Drive the financial information/process technology strategy needed to support the leadership and operations teams at the Division’s 10 facilities, spread across 4 states and 3 countries.
  • Prepare statements of monthly financial data including income statement and balance sheet; analyze financial results compared to monthly objectives.
  • Be responsible for financial performance measurements within the division, ensuring reporting is accurate and timely to meet the division’s constantly changing needs.
  • Accountable for proper procedures, policies and controls to maintain adequate internal controls.
  • Handle internal and external reporting, maintain integrity, and ensure Generally Accepted Accounting Principles are in place. Ensure compliance with local statutory reporting.
  • Respond to special financial requests and analysis, communicate potential problem areas, and conduct requested financial reviews/analysis.
  • Lead the talent management and employee development processes for the accounting team, ensuring technically qualified personnel are placed in all positions and that training and development programs are available. Review succession plans at least annually.
  • Direct the annual division planning process with an emphasis on installing a proactive reporting system to support the management decision‑making process.
  • Review and evaluate investments in all operating assets.
Qualifications
  • BS degree in accounting, finance, or economics. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 7‑10 years’ experience in general and cost accounting.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and team‑building skills in producing results and meeting organizational objectives.
  • Capable of assessing and developing individual and team skills and capabilities. Able to create and maintain enthusiasm for new and challenging goals. Serves as a role model by promoting new ideas and positive change.
  • Thorough understanding of business and financial systems and controls, contractual terms, and regulatory requirements. Ability to control costs and effectively implement programs with impact on division‑wide efforts. Highly effective and persuasive in developing and maintaining customer/internal client relationships.
