Position Overview

Are you an experienced accounting professional ready to lead with impact in a dynamic, growth-oriented organization? We are seeking a results-driven Accounting Manager to take ownership of the full spectrum of financial and accounting functions supporting our property management portfolio. This is a pivotal leadership opportunity to guide financial operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and influence strategic decisions across the company.

As Accounting Manager, you will oversee both operational and trust accounting practices, lead a talented accounting team, and serve as a financial thought partner to property managers and executive leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all accounting operations, including billing, accounts receivable/payable, general ledger, revenue recognition, and trust accounting for property management.
  • Lead and mentor the accounting team to ensure timely owner payouts, reconciliations, month-end close, and professional growth.
  • Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP standards.
  • Analyze financial data from various platforms to ensure accurate allocation of revenue, commissions, and fees.
  • Collaborate on annual budgets and provide monthly forecasting updates.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and maintain robust internal controls.
  • Coordinate annual audits with external auditors and tax professionals.
  • Review and approve bank reconciliations, payroll, and vendor payments.
  • Mentor and develop accounting staff, promoting professional growth and high performance within the team.
  • Provide financial analysis and variance explanations to support operational decision-making.
  • Drive improvements in financial systems and processes for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Establish and enforce accounting policies and procedures to enhance controls and transparency.
  • Lead the development and management of annual budgets, monthly forecasts, and comprehensive financial reports.
  • Partner closely with property managers and executive leadership to evaluate financial performance, providing insights that drive informed strategic decisions.
  • Ensure precise monitoring of revenue recognition, owner distributions, and expense allocations in compliance with GAAP and industry standards.
  • Deliver thorough financial analyses and variance explanations to support both operational and trust accounting functions.
  • Identify and recommend process enhancements and stronger financial controls to improve accuracy, efficiency, and transparency within the accounting team.
Management Reporting & Strategic Support
  • Lead the preparation and thorough review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring full compliance with GAAP and accuracy tailored to property management accounting.
  • Deliver timely and insightful management reports and financial analyses that empower property managers and executive leadership to make informed strategic decisions.
  • Manage coordination with external auditors and tax professionals to facilitate smooth and accurate annual audits and tax filings.
  • Provide detailed ad-hoc financial reports and variance analyses to address operational inquiries and support key business initiatives.
  • Uphold exceptional standards of quality, accuracy, and punctuality in all financial reporting and presentations, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to transparency and financial integrity.
Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Lead and mentor a skilled accounting team, fostering a collaborative environment that emphasizes accuracy, professional growth, and timely completion of all financial responsibilities.
  • Work closely with executive leadership to align financial operations with business goals, providing clear financial insights to support strategic decisions.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with external auditors, tax advisors, vendors, and banking institutions to ensure compliance, transparency, and efficient financial management.
Process Improvement & Compliance
  • Develop and continuously improve accounting policies and procedures to enhance internal controls and ensure precise financial reporting.
  • Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as GAAP and industry-specific accounting standards.
  • Drive process enhancements to increase efficiency in billing, reconciliations, month-end close, and owner payout workflows.
  • Provide ongoing training and mentorship to the accounting team, fostering adoption of best practices and promoting professional growth.
  • Work closely with property managers and executive leadership to maintain financial transparency and protect company and owner assets.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with strong property and real estate industry background.
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP and property management accounting practices.
  • Experience managing accounting functions, including billing, AR/AP, general ledger, revenue recognition, and trust accounting.
  • Proficiency with property management software and financial reporting tools.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and strong analytical problem-solver.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to enhance financial systems, controls, and policies for transparency and efficiency.
  • Self-driven, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities remotely.
