Job summary

GC AI, a leading legal AI platform, is seeking a Corporate Controller to own month-end close, build scalable in-house accounting systems, and partner with cross-functional teams to drive financial clarity and operational excellence.

You will manage and evolve the accounting function for a fast-growing SaaS company, reporting to the Corporate Controller and ensuring accuracy across all workflows, with a strong focus on US GAAP, ASC 606, and external audit coordination.

Qualifications

• CPA certification or significant progress toward CPA.
• 5+ years of hands-on accounting experience.
• SaaS industry experience required; AI or high-growth tech a plus.
• Big Four public accounting background is a strong plus.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP, month-end processes, and revenue recognition.
• Experience managing accounts receivable and collections.
• Experience working with external accounting firms or auditors.
• Experience with multi-entity accounting, including intercompany and FX is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage outsourced accounting relationship and move to in-house team.
• Oversee monthly close deliverables: reconciliations, journal entries, revenue schedules, consolidations, variance analyses.
• Maintain high-quality general ledger and ensure US GAAP compliance.
• Oversee accounts receivable end to end: invoicing, cash application, collections, aging, forecasting.
• Own audit processes and required documentation.
• Oversee accounts payable, expense management, vendor onboarding workflows.
• Own SaaS revenue accounting including subscription billing and ASC 606 considerations.
• Maintain accuracy in accounting systems and lead in-house transition as company grows.
• Partner with Operations, Sales, and Customer Success for accurate data flow.
• Build scalable accounting processes and internal controls for growth.

About the Role

This is a high-impact role for someone who wants to take ownership, shape financial operations, and grow with the company. You will work closely with our Corporate Controller to manage the month-end close and ensure accuracy across all accounting workflows. You will play a key role in building out scalable systems and the in-house accounting team.

This role is ideal for someone with strong SaaS experience, solid technical accounting knowledge, and a desire to help create structure in a fast-paced startup. You will report directly to the Corporate Controller and be a trusted partner in supporting financial clarity and operational excellence.

What You’ll Do

• Manage the relationship with our current outsourced accounting team and play a pivotal role moving to an in-house team.
• Oversee and review monthly close deliverables including reconciliations, journal entries, revenue schedules, consolidations, and variance analyses.
• Maintain a high-quality general ledger and ensure compliance with US GAAP.
• Oversee accounts receivable end to end, from invoicing and cash application through collections, aging analysis, and receivables forecasting for leadership.
• Own audit processes and prepare required documentation.
• Oversee accounts payable, expense management, and vendor onboarding workflows.
• Own SaaS revenue accounting including subscription billing, usage elements when applicable, and ASC 606 considerations.
• Maintain accuracy in all accounting systems and help lead the transition of accounting functions in-house as the company grows.
• Partner with Operations, Sales, and Customer Success to ensure accurate data flow for billing, revenue, and customer activity.
• Build scalable accounting processes and internal controls that support growth.

What We’re Looking For

• CPA certification or significant progress toward CPA.
• 5+ years of hands-on accounting experience.
• SaaS industry experience is required. AI or other high-growth tech experience is a plus.
• Big Four public accounting background is a strong plus.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP, month-end processes, and revenue recognition.
• Experience managing accounts receivable and collections.
• Experience working directly with external accounting firms or auditors.
• Experience with multi-entity accounting, including intercompany and FX, is a plus.
• Advanced proficiency with QuickBooks Online, Ramp, Stripe, Carta, HubSpot, and both Google Workspace and Microsoft Office tools.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and limited structure.
• Strong communication skills, high ownership, and a proactive approach to solving problems.

If you’re in a location without an office, expect up to 10% travel (and more for customer-facing roles).

Team members in the San Francisco Bay Area and Provo, UT (within 50 miles of the office) work together on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. As we grow, we plan to establish permanent offices in more hub cities, and we will look to our team members to help build that in-person culture.
