About The Role
The role owns the accounting close and reporting engine for a growing technology business: general ledger integrity, monthly and quarterly closes, and financial statements prepared under US GAAP. This role matters because investors, auditors, and leadership rely on its output — clean numbers, a disciplined SOX control environment, and reporting that stands up to SEC-grade scrutiny as the business scales.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the month-end and quarter-end close across revenue recognition (ASC 606), accruals, and reconciliations, hitting tight deadlines with accurate deliverables
- Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules in accordance with US GAAP, including flux analysis and management reporting
- Lead SOX compliance for the team: document key controls, coordinate walkthroughs and testing, and remediate deficiencies with process owners
- Manage technical accounting research on ASC topics (revenue, capitalization, leases, stock-based compensation) and document position papers for leadership and auditors
- Partner with FP&A and business teams on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis; translate operational activity into clean accounting
- Drive automation and scale in the close process using ERP and reporting tools (NetSuite, Workiva, or similar), reducing manual work each quarter
- Coordinate external audit requests and support quarterly reviews and annual audits with complete, audit-ready PBC lists
What We Are Looking For
- 5-8 years of combined public accounting and industry experience, with close ownership at a technology or high-growth company
- Deep working knowledge of US GAAP and SOX controls; familiarity with SEC reporting requirements (10-K/10-Q exposure a plus)
- CPA (active or in progress)
- Hands-on ERP and close tooling experience — NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Workiva, or comparable systems
- Strong technical accounting research and writing skills; comfortable documenting positions and defending them to auditors
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; Master's in Accounting a plus
- Bonus: Big 4 or national firm audit background; experience scaling a close process through rapid headcount or revenue growth; ASC 842 or ASC 350 specialization
