Job summary

The Keller Group seeks a Capital Assets Manager to oversee accounting, reporting, and analysis of capital assets in line with accounting standards and organizational policies. You will lead the capital accounting function, partner with operations, and drive process improvements across asset-related reporting and controls.

Job description

The Capital Assets Manager is responsible for overseeing the accurate and timely accounting, reporting, and analysis of capital assets in accordance with applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.

This role provides leadership to the capital accounting function, supports financial reporting and planning, develops and improves processes, and partners with operational leaders to provide financial insight related to capital investments and projects.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Oversee the timely and accurate reporting of capital assets information in support of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and analyze capital asset activity and variances to support monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting.
  • Ensure financial results are accurate and aligned with applicable accounting standards and organizational policies.
  • Prepare and review capital asset reporting, analysis, and other financial information for leadership.
  • Provide financial analysis and reporting to support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Respond to ad hoc reporting and analysis requests as needed.
Capital Asset Accounting
  • Oversee accounting processes related to capital assets, including additions, transfers, disposals, depreciation, and related activities.
  • Ensure capital project costs are properly recorded, classified, and transferred into service in accordance with applicable accounting requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and complete capital asset records.
  • Support the development and maintenance of appropriate accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls related to capital assets.
  • Ensure capital asset information supports financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and regulatory requirements.
Systems & Process Improvement
  • Oversee the effective use of financial systems and capital asset management tools to support accurate reporting and analysis.
  • Develop and maintain strong working knowledge of applicable accounting and project management systems.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial reporting, accounting processes, systems, and controls.
  • Lead and implement continuous improvement initiatives that increase efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement new processes, procedures, and tools to enhance capital asset reporting and analysis.
  • Evaluate opportunities to improve data integrity, reporting capabilities, and workflow efficiency.
Business Partnership
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with operational departments, project managers, finance teams, and organizational leadership.
  • Provide financial guidance and support related to capital projects, investments, and asset management.
  • Partner with operational teams to understand capital activity and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Provide financial analysis and insight to support operational planning and decision-making.
  • Collaborate across departments to resolve issues and improve processes.
  • Lead, supervise, and develop the capital accounting and analysis team.
  • Assign and oversee work to ensure timely completion of financial reporting and planning responsibilities.
  • Establish clear expectations, performance objectives, and accountability measures.
  • Recruit, onboard, coach, and develop team members as appropriate.
  • Identify professional development opportunities and support employee career growth.

  • Monitor progress against established objectives and communicate results to leadership.
  • Identify potential risks, challenges, and opportunities and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Present financial results, trends, and accomplishments to leadership and other stakeholders as appropriate.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional accounting certification preferred.
  • Significant accounting experience, including experience with capital assets, fixed assets, or capital project accounting.
  • Prior supervisory or management experience with responsibility for developing and coaching team members.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable accounting standards, financial reporting requirements, and regulatory practices.
  • Experience with capital accounting, project accounting, fixed assets, or a similarly complex accounting environment.
  • Experience with enterprise accounting systems and fixed asset or project accounting modules.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, planning, and decision‑making skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills with the ability to work effectively across departments and organizational levels.
  • Ability to lead teams, manage competing priorities, and deliver accurate results within established deadlines.
  • Industry experience in utilities, infrastructure, construction, energy, or another asset‑intensive environment is beneficial.
