Job summary

GFT Ready Mix is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee daily accounting operations at the corporate office in Arizona. The role involves supervision of AP/AR, GL, and financial reporting, plus collaboration with the CFO on close cycles and ERP enhancements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Previous accounting leadership or supervisory experience.
• Hands-on experience using an ERP system for accounting, reporting, billing, and financial processes.
• Experience implementing, configuring, or improving ERP systems strongly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
• Experience in construction, manufacturing, ready‑mix, aggregates, trucking, or a similar industry preferred.
• Strong knowledge of month-end close, internal controls, and financial reporting.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Advanced Excel skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations including AP, AR, and front desk admin.
• Maintain GL accuracy and timely reconciliations.
• Assist CFO with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closes.
• Prepare and review internal financial reports for CFO.
• Manage AR aging and credit risk; supervise billing.
• Process vendor invoices, payments, and 1099 filings.
• Support ERP implementation and system maintenance.
• Maintain internal controls and GAAP compliance.
• Lead accounting staff and drive process improvements.
• Handle cash flow management and audits as needed.

Position Details

Location: Corporate Office - GFT Ready Mix - Arizona

Employment Status: Full-Time

Schedule: Monday - Friday

Compensation: $90,000–$110,000 annually, depending on experience

Job Duties

Some job duties include but are not limited to:

Financial Operations & Reporting

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and front desk admin.
• Maintain accuracy of the general ledger and ensure timely account reconciliations.
• Assist the CFO with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and review internal financial reports as requested by the CFO.

Inventory, Fixed Assets & Capital Management

• Assist with material inventory accounting and reconciliation of usage variances.
• Support fixed asset accounting for plants, batch systems, and fleet equipment.

Accounts Receivable & Credit Management

• Supervise high-volume customer billing.
• Monitor AR aging and oversee collections efforts.
• Review customer credit accounts and manage credit risk exposure.
• Ensure compliance with lien laws, waivers, and contract billing requirements.

Accounts Payable & Expense Oversight

• Process/enter vendor invoices and payments and material purchase reconciliations.
• Monitor fuel, maintenance, and fleet-related expenses.
• Oversee monthly credit card reconciliations.
• Process annual 1099 filings.

Budgeting, Compliance & Controls

• Assist with cash flow management.
• Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP.
• Support audits, tax filings, and insurance reporting requirements.

Leadership & Process Improvement

• Supervise and develop accounting staff.
• Improve accounting processes and ERP system utilization.
• Maintain current and accurate Accounting SOPs and ensure backup coverage for AR and AP.
• Assist with ERP implementation and ongoing system maintenance.

Additional Responsibilities

• Perform bookkeeping and payroll functions for a small internally managed dba.
• Assist with additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
