Job summary

Wilder Systems is seeking an Accounting Manager to own daily accounting operations, the monthly close, and financial statements. This hands-on leadership role manages the general ledger, reconciliations, and liaison with external auditors.

Required: a Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance and at least five years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting audit exposure. Strong GAAP knowledge and advanced Excel skills are essential for success.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close with the close calendar, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Prepare financial statements and schedules per U.S. GAAP.
• Maintain general ledger and chart of accounts, ensure timely transactions.
• Liaise with external auditors, prepare PBC schedules and respond to requests.
• Design and enforce internal controls over financial reporting; close gaps.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll activities.
• Manage sales/use tax and assist with income tax filings with outside advisors.
• Partner with FP&A on budget vs. actual reporting and explanations.
• Drive process improvements to shorten close and improve reporting accuracy.
• Support special projects including technical accounting research.

Accounting Manager
Job Type: Full-Time
Reports To: VP of Finance
Location: OKC About the Role Wilder Systems is looking for an Accounting Manager to own the day-to-day accounting operations and the monthly close. This is a hands-on leadership role: you will manage the general ledger, produce accurate and timely financial statements, and serve as the primary point of contact for our external auditors.
We are looking for someone who has sat on the audit side of the table. A background in public accounting means you already know what clean workpapers, well-supported reconciliations, and defensible judgments look like - and you will bring that standard to our books.

What You'll Do

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, including the close calendar, journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
• Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts, and ensure transactions are recorded accurately and on time.
• Serve as the primary liaison for the annual external audit - prepare the PBC schedules, respond to auditor requests, and resolve issues before they become findings.
• Design, document, and enforce internal controls over financial reporting; identify gaps and implement practical improvements.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll accounting activities.
• Manage sales and use tax, and support income tax filings prepared by outside advisors.
• Partner with FP&A and department leaders on budget-versus-actual reporting and variance explanations.
• Drive process and system improvements to shorten the close and increase reporting accuracy.
• Support special projects, including technical accounting research and documentation of accounting positions.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of five (5) years of progressive accounting experience.
• Audit experience in public accounting is required.
• Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls over financial reporting.
• Demonstrated experience owning or leading a full month-end close.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with a mid-market or enterprise ERP / accounting system.
• Proven ability to meet deadlines, manage competing priorities, and communicate clearly with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
• High degree of accuracy, professional skepticism, and discretion with confidential information.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in a company-side accounting role after leaving public accounting.
• Experience with ERP implementation, migration, or process automation.
• Master's degree in Accounting or an MBA.
