Job summary

R/GA is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee the day-to-day accounting for the U.S. entity and own the monthly close process. You will manage journal entries, reconciliations, and intercompany activities, while mentoring junior staff and coordinating with global finance teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience including month-end close.
• Experience leading or supervising accounting staff.
• Experience owning P/L and Balance Sheet for a business entity.
• Strong reconciliation, analysis, and cross-entity accounting knowledge.

About the Role

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting operations of the U.S. entity, ensuring the integrity of financial statements and owning the monthly close process. This role maintains full ownership of the Profit & Loss Statement and Balance Sheet, including reconciliations, variance analysis, intercompany accounting, and compliance with U.S. GAAP. Supervising one to two Senior Accountants while staying actively involved in daily accounting activities, this position is ideal for a well-rounded accounting professional who enjoys leading a team while maintaining a hands-on approach.

Here’s what you should know if you want to be an Accounting Manager at R/GA:

On any given day, you might

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process for the U.S. entity.
• Maintain full ownership of the accuracy and integrity of the Profit & Loss Statement and Balance Sheet.
• Prepare, review, and approve journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
• Review monthly financial results and perform detailed P&L and Balance Sheet variance analysis, identifying trends and explaining significant fluctuations.
• Ensure compliance with ASC 606 Revenue Recognition and review revenue-related accounting activities.
• Own the intercompany accounting process, including recording intercompany transactions, preparing reconciliations, resolving differences, and coordinating with global finance teams to ensure timely settlements.
• Review and analyze key balance sheet accounts, including deferred revenue, work in progress (WIP), accrued expenses, prepaid expenses, and fixed assets.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop one to two Senior Accountants, providing guidance, reviewing work, and supporting professional growth.
• Partner with FP&A, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Tax, and operational teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Support external audits by preparing schedules, responding to auditor requests, and ensuring timely completion of audit deliverables.
• Assist with process improvements, automation initiatives, and strengthening internal controls.
• Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and U.S. GAAP.
• Support tax-related accounting matters and collaborate with external tax advisors as needed.
• Participate in special projects and other ad hoc accounting initiatives.

You Bring

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience leading the month-end close process.
• Prior experience supervising or mentoring accounting staff.
• Experience owning the full Profit & Loss Statement and Balance Sheet for a business entity.
• Strong account reconciliation, financial analysis, and month-end close experience.
• Experience managing intercompany accounting and reconciliations across multiple entities.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with Google Workspace.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP.

Bonus Points

• Strong experience with NetSuite ERP.
• Experience in the advertising, media, marketing, or professional services industry.
• Knowledge of Use Tax compliance.
• Knowledge of Commercial Rent Tax (CRT/RET).
• Exposure to U.S. income tax accounting.
• Experience working in a multi-entity or global organization.
• Knowledge of mergers and acquisitions.

*This role is based in the NYC / Tri-State area. Candidates must be located within commuting distance in the Tri-State area (NY, NJ, CT) or willing to relocate. This position offers a hybrid work model, with regular in-person collaboration and team / client workshops.

The hiring range for this position is $120,000 to $140,000. Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this range will depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position; budgetary considerations; tenure and standing with the company (applicable to current employees); as well as the employee’s/applicant’s applicable skills, pertinent experience, and qualifications.
