Job summary

The Old Dominion Group is seeking an Accounting Manager to support financial operations across the organization. This role emphasizes accuracy, organization, and efficiency in a fast-paced construction environment, with duties spanning general ledger, reconciliations, and internal controls.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance and 4–5 years of accounting experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with 4–5 years of experience in accounting, finance, consulting, or another analytical role.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial statements, and accounting fundamentals.
  • High standards of professionalism, ethics, and integrity, with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information discreetly.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, along with experience using ERP systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast‑paced construction environment.
  • Strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Curious, confident, and hardworking, with a willingness to quickly learn and apply new skills.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic, reliable transportation, and flexibility to work extended hours as needed.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills, professional demeanor, and the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels, vendors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Positive team player with a solutions‑oriented attitude.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-end review of accounting activity across balance sheet and operating accounts — with a focus on accuracy and controls.
  • Timely and precise general ledger entries, reconciliations, and reviews in partnership with other departments.
  • Support consolidation and reporting across multiple entities, brands, and locations.
  • Support accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll activities.
  • Active participation in external audits along with hands-on involvement in strengthening internal controls.
  • Continuous process improvement — you’ll be expected to ask questions, spot inefficiencies, and help raise the bar for how the Accounting Department operates.
  • Assist in training and supporting team members on accounting procedures, systems, and best practices.
  • Keep documentation, templates, and systems organized.

This position plays a key role in supporting the company’s financial operations by ensuring accuracy, organization, and efficiency across multiple accounting functions.

Major Duties And Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing, and other duties will be assigned based on the position’s role within the business unit.

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to the following:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Able to walk, sit, stand, bend, kneel, stretch, squat and climb.
  • Able to travel to jobsites, meetings, and other destinations as needed.
  • Able to wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Able to work with specialized construction equipment, tools, and materials.
  • Able to see, talk and hear in person, via phone and/or through online/video.
  • Able to use hands and fingers in a manner that allows for use of a keyboard and phone.
  • Able to lift & carry items up to 10 lbs.
