Job summary

Soni is seeking a Cost Accounting Manager to oversee cost accounting across manufacturing operations. You will partner with Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance to analyze performance, improve reporting, and strengthen inventory controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of direct cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of general ledger and month-end close processes.
• Experience analyzing P&L performance and manufacturing costs.
• Advanced Excel and ERP experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage cost accounting processes including product costing, inventory valuation, and variance analysis.
• Analyze production costs, yields, labor efficiencies, raw material usage, scrap, and waste for cost savings.
• Support month-end close activities related to inventory and cost accounting.
• Prepare and review inventory reconciliations, journal entries, and balance sheet analyses.
• Monitor inventory transactions and ensure accurate valuation of materials, WIP, and finished goods.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and operations to improve cost visibility and performance.
• Develop and distribute reporting on production costs, inventory levels, and manufacturing metrics.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and profitability analysis.
• Support physical inventory and cycle counts; strengthen inventory controls.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies and internal controls.
• Participate in process improvements to enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency.
• Mentor junior accounting staff as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage cost accounting processes, including product costing, inventory valuation, and manufacturing variance analysis.
• Analyze production costs, yields, labor efficiencies, raw material usage, scrap, and waste to identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Support month-end close activities related to inventory and cost accounting.
• Prepare and review inventory reconciliations, journal entries, and balance sheet account analyses.
• Monitor inventory transactions and ensure accurate valuation of raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods.
• Partner with manufacturing and operations teams to improve cost visibility and operational performance.
• Develop and distribute reporting related to production costs, inventory levels, and manufacturing performance metrics.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and profitability analysis.
• Support physical inventory counts, cycle counts, and inventory control initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance reporting, accuracy, and efficiency.
• Mentor and support junior accounting staff as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
• 7-10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of direct cost accounting experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close processes.
• Experience analyzing P&L performance and manufacturing costs.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial reporting skills.
• Advanced Excel skills and ERP system experience.
• Management or leadership experience is a plus.
