Job summary

FlexCar is a rapidly growing company seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead the Accounting function from our Athens headquarters.

You will oversee end-to-end accounting for Greek group entities, manage the accounting team, and own monthly and year-end closings, ensuring IFRS compliance and tax reporting while collaborating with FP&A, Treasury and Operations to drive growth in Greece and international markets.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics or another relevant field.
  • 7–10 years of accounting experience with hands-on technical knowledge.
  • Proven experience leading and developing Accounting teams and managing an end-to-end function.
  • Strong knowledge of Greek accounting and tax requirements including VAT, MyDATA and statutory compliance.
  • IFRS knowledge including IFRS 16 and group consolidation.
  • Experience with IFRS and financial statement consolidation across multiple entities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end Accounting function across Greek Group entities, overseeing AP, AR, Fixed Assets and General Accounting.
  • Manage, coach and develop the Accounting team with clear ownership and collaboration.
  • Own monthly and year-end closing processes and ensure accurate financial reporting and reconciliations.
  • Oversee tax and regulatory compliance including VAT, VIES, Intrastat, withholding taxes and corporate income tax.
  • Ensure accurate accounting and reconciliations across customers, suppliers, inventories, revenue, expenses and leases (IFRS 16).
  • Participate in the Group consolidation process including intercompany reconciliations.
  • Ensure IFRS, local accounting standards and statutory compliance across jurisdictions.
  • Lead accounting in statutory and tax audits with auditors and external advisers.
  • Improve accounting policies, internal controls, ERP workflows and automated processes.
  • Partner with FP&A, Treasury and Business Operations on reporting and initiatives.

Position Responsibilities
  • Lead the end-to-end Accounting function across all Greek Group entities, overseeing AP, AR, Fixed Assets and General Accounting.
  • Manage, coach and develop the Accounting team, ensuring clear ownership, high performance and effective collaboration.
  • Own the monthly and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, reconciliations, accruals and provisions.
  • Oversee all tax and regulatory compliance, including VAT, VIES, Intrastat, withholding taxes, corporate income tax requirements and MyDATA.
  • Ensure accurate accounting and reconciliations across customers, suppliers, inventories, revenue, expenses, fixed assets, loans, leases and IFRS 16.
  • Participate in the Group consolidation process, including intercompany reconciliations and accounting oversight of international subsidiaries.
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS, local accounting standards and statutory requirements across all jurisdictions.
  • Lead the Accounting function's involvement in statutory and tax audits, working closely with auditors and external advisors.
  • Establish and continuously improve accounting policies, internal controls, ERP workflows and automated processes to support the Group's growth.
  • Partner closely with FP&A, Treasury and Business Operations on reporting requirements, new initiatives and complex accounting matters.
  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics or another relevant field.
  • 7-10 years of relevant Accounting experience, with strong hands-on technical accounting knowledge.
  • Proven experience leading and developing Accounting teams and managing an end-to-end Accounting function.
  • Strong knowledge of Greek accounting and tax requirements, including VAT, MyDATA and statutory compliance.
  • Holder of a Class A Accountant-Tax Consultant professional license with the corresponding signing authority in Greece.
  • Solid knowledge of IFRS, with experience in IFRS 16 and financial statement consolidation.
  • Experience working with multiple legal entities and/or international subsidiaries.
  • Previous experience in Big 4, a multinational, fintech or fast-growing scale-up is considered a strong plus.
  • Experience with financial and tax audits, internal controls and accounting process improvement.
  • Strong Excel, ERP and data analysis skills, with the ability to work effectively with large and complex datasets.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership and stakeholder management skills, with a hands-on mindset and fluency in Greek and English.
