Job summary

Culbertson Resources Inc. is seeking an Accounting & Audit Manager for the Greater Houston Area. The role leads general accounting, payroll, and financial reporting, with direct reporting to the Finance Director and a seat at the executive table.

Responsibilities include leading the annual audit, ACFR, and presenting to the governing board, with broad exposure to fund accounting, grant/disaster accounting, and intercompany work across multiple facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting and 5-10 years of professional accounting experience; governmental accounting or environmental, water district industry experience preferred.
• Prior supervisory or management experience; public accounting background in Governmental audits strongly preferred (CPA, CPA-eligible, CIA, or CGFO a plus).
• Sound command of GAAP and GASB, governmental fund accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, and accrual accounting - plus ERP experience (Workday preferred).
• Sharp attention to detail, a deadline-driven mindset, advanced Excel skills, and the communication chops to translate complex financials for executives and a governing board.

Our client is a well-established governmental entity in the greater Houston area with an environmental mission at its core - and behind that mission sits a finance operation that has to be just as sound as the science.

We're searching for an Accounting & Audit Manager to lead the organization's general accounting, payroll, and financial reporting functions - a high-visibility role reporting directly to the Finance Director, with a seat at the table alongside executive leadership and the governing board.
