Job summary

Blue Signal Search is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead a critical accounting function for a complex essential-services organization. This hands-on finance leader will strengthen financial operations, improve ERP-enabled processes, develop an accounting team, and enhance reporting and controls for greater visibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
• Established background leading utility-focused projects with increasing responsibility.
• Advanced knowledge of ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and GAAP.
• Strong in financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, and controls.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly close calendar, review journals, and drive balance sheet reconciliations.
• Protect ledger integrity and strengthen financial reporting quality.
• Lead, coach, and develop accounting staff with clear priorities and standards.
• Guide ERP administration: configuration, upgrades, integrations, controls, user support.
• Partner with finance, operations, engineering, procurement, payroll to resolve issues.
• Maintain disciplined control environment; support audits.
• Support annual planning, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow visibility.
• Translate business needs into ERP/process improvements for data reliability.

This is an opportunity for a hands-on finance leader to strengthen financial operations, improve ERP-enabled processes, develop a capable accounting team, and bring greater consistency and visibility to reporting and controls. The ideal candidate combines strong general ledger expertise with electric utility experience, project leadership, and the ability to turn financial and operational data into reliable business insight.

This Role Offers:

• Take ownership of a high-impact accounting function supporting essential utility operations.
• Influence financial processes, systems, controls, and reporting across a complex operating environment.
• Lead ERP improvement work while partnering with stakeholders across finance and operations.

• Own the monthly close calendar, review journal activity, and drive timely balance sheet reconciliations.
• Protect the integrity of the general ledger and strengthen the quality of management and financial reporting.
• Lead, coach, and develop accounting professionals while setting clear priorities, expectations, and performance standards.
• Guide ERP administration and improvement efforts, including system configuration, upgrades, integrations, controls, and user support.
• Partner with finance, operations, engineering, procurement, payroll, and other teams to resolve accounting issues.
• Maintain a disciplined control environment and support internal, external, and tax audit activity.
• Support annual planning, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow visibility, and special financial analysis.
• Translate business needs into practical ERP and accounting process improvements that improve data reliability and efficiency.

Skill Set:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• Established background leading utility-focused projects, supported by several years of increasing responsibility and direct team oversight.
• Advanced working knowledge of a major ERP environment, such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite.
• Hands‑on strength in financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, GAAP, financial controls, general ledger accounting, and close activities.
• Demonstrated ability to lead accounting teams, manage competing deadlines, and make sound decisions with limited oversight.
• Experience supporting ERP projects, upgrades, implementations, or process optimization in a cross‑functional setting.
• Strong analytical, reconciliation, reporting, and problem‑solving capabilities.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and nontechnical teams.
• Valid driver's license required. Project Management certification is a plus.
