JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Accounting Manager

Department/Unit: Finance

Position Summary:

The newly created Accounting Manager position will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial operations of our property portfolio. This position is responsible for reviewing the work of Property Accountants, maintaining accurate financial records, preparing comprehensive financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The Manager will work closely with Regional Managers, the CFO, and COO to provide financial insights, assist in budgeting and forecasting, and support effective decision-making. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in property management software are essential for success in this role.

CORE JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• 1 Review, and in some cases, prepare and maintain accurate financial reports for property owners, including income statements, and balance sheets. Manage the financial accounting for the management company and related entities.
• 2 Develop an understanding of the financing of each property. Assist with periodic refinancing as required by compiling information required.
• 3 Work with the Accounts Payable Supervisor to provide oversight to accounts payable specific to property related expenses, including utility bills, maintenance cost and vendor invoices.
• 4 Review and reconcile bank accounts, tenant ledgers and vendor statements to ensure accuracy. As needed, investigate and resolve discrepancies or issues in financial records promptly.
• 5 Become familiar with company history and overall organization structure.
• 6 Assist Community and Regional Managers with the preparation and analysis of operating budgets for each property.
• 7 Special financial projects as needed.
