Job summary

Attivo Partners is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead multi-client accounting functions, including month-end close, AR/AP, payroll, and tax compliance. This hands-on role requires experience with startup finance, policy development, and strong GAAP knowledge.

The position offers flexible/work-from-home location with travel to in-person events 2–3 weeks per year. Preference for candidates in major hubs, with possible remote work from various US cities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred; CPA a plus.
• 6+ years progressive accounting experience with 2+ years in supervision.
• Experience in fast-paced technology or professional services environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly financial statements and budget vs actual analysis.
• Assist with financial modeling and forecasting for clients.
• Manage Accounts Receivable including invoicing and collections.
• Manage Accounts Payable and ensure timely payments per policies.
• Process onboarding, payroll, and terminations.
• Mentor and train future team members.

Role Overview

The Accounting Manager position is a hands‑on role, responsible for accounting functions for multiple clients that include full‑cycle month‑end close, accounts receivable and payable, payroll, and tax compliance. The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the general accounting for clients, assisting with the creation of financial statements and management reporting, managing the organization's cash, and assisting with the creation of departmental budgets and forecasts. Experience with developing and establishing policies and procedures within a corporation is highly preferred. The ideal candidate has worked at or with early‑stage start‑ups.

The position location is flexible/work from home, with preference given to candidates in the following cities where Attivo has an employee presence: San Francisco/Bay Area, Los Angeles/Southern California, New York City, Austin, and Boston. Candidates in other locations welcome to apply. Some travel to in‑person company events is required, approximately 2‑3 weeks out of the year. In‑person onboarding training will take place within the first 3 months of employment (locations vary).

• Manage Accounts Payable - which includes ensuring accurate entry, timely payment, and compliance with company policies
• Process employee onboarding, payroll, and terminations
• Mentor and train future team members

Requirements

• Solid understanding of GAAP, CPA preferred
• Advanced+ Excel
• Experience with standard software solutions: QuickBooks Online, Xero, NetSuite, Campfire, Brex, Ramp, Rippling, Gusto, Rillet, Carta
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
• Independent judgment and decision‑making
• Ability to manage multiple projects/priorities at a time
• Professional curiosity & creativity
• Passionate desire to learn & for continuous improvement
• Experience implementing workflow automation or AI‑enabled tools preferred. Familiarity with generative AI tools and automation platforms strongly preferred

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred. CPA is a plus
• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
• Experience working in a fast‑paced technology, or professional services environment

Salary Range

Attivo offers a competitive base plus bonus, and opportunities for advancement. The starting salary range for Accounting Manager is approximately $110,000 to $140,000 per year plus bonus.
