Job summary

AlphaX RE Capital, headquartered in Cupertino, CA, seeks an Accounting Manager to oversee daily accounting operations across GL, AP, AR, and cash management for its real estate development portfolio. You will ensure accurate financial reporting, manage month-end close, and support budgeting and forecasting in a fast-paced environment.

About the Role

This position is employed by AL Homes Inc., a brand of AlphaX RE Capital. The Accounting Manager oversees the day-to-day accounting operations of the company and ensures the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting. This role is responsible for managing the general ledger, month-end and year-end close processes, financial reporting, accounts payable and receivable oversight, reconciliations, budgeting support, and compliance with accounting standards and company policies.

The ideal candidate is analytical, highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in managing accounting operations within a fast-paced real estate development, homebuilding, or construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting Operations

• Oversee the daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management.
• Ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
• Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
• Maintain the integrity of financial records and accounting systems.
• Monitor accounting processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Manage month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Analyze financial results and investigate variances.
• Prepare management reports and financial summaries for executive leadership.
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial information.

General Ledger & Reconciliations

• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Review bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Ensure fixed asset records are maintained accurately.
• Monitor accruals, prepaid expenses, and depreciation schedules.
• Resolve accounting discrepancies and outstanding reconciling items.

Budgeting & Financial Planning

• Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
• Monitor departmental and project budgets against actual expenditures.
• Support cash flow forecasting and financial planning activities.
• Provide financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements.

Accounts Payable & Receivable Oversight

• Oversee invoice processing, payment approvals, and vendor account management.
• Monitor customer billing and collections activities.
• Ensure timely payments to vendors and consultants.
• Review aging reports and resolve outstanding balances.
• Maintain strong controls over cash disbursements and receivables.

Project & Construction Accounting

• Support accounting activities related to real estate development and construction projects.
• Track project costs and expenditures against approved budgets.
• Review construction draws, change orders, and project-related invoices.
• Coordinate with Project Managers to ensure accurate cost allocation.
• Assist with project financial reporting and job cost analysis.

Compliance & Internal Controls

• Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Develop, implement, and maintain internal accounting controls.
• Support external audits, tax preparation, and regulatory reporting.
• Coordinate with auditors and external accounting partners.
• Maintain accounting documentation and audit-ready financial records.
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff.
• Assign work, review performance, and support professional development.
• Establish accounting procedures and best practices.
• Promote accuracy, accountability, and continuous process improvement within the accounting team.
• Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and training accounting personnel as needed.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role for a homebuilder, construction company, or property management firm.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
• Experience with month-end close, financial statements, budgeting, and account reconciliations.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

Preferred

• CPA designation or CPA candidate preferred.
• Knowledge of construction accounting, job costing, and project-based financial reporting.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems such as Sage, NetSuite, QuickBooks Enterprise, or similar platforms.
• Familiarity with California accounting, payroll, sales tax, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience supporting multi-entity or multi-project accounting environments.

The expected salary range for this position is$120,000to $$160,000 per year. The actual salary offer will be determined based on the successful candidate's geographic location, relevant experience, and specific skill sets, in accordance with California laws.
