Job summary

LHH partners with a Columbus construction client to fill an Accounting Manager role. The candidate will oversee monthly close, prepare journal entries, and ensure GAAP compliance while supporting multiple locations in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires a degree in accounting/finance, strong Excel and MS Office skills, and excellent communication. CPA is a bonus; attractive bonus and 401(k) with match are offered along with health benefits and PTO.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
• CPA license is a bonus, but not required.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP.
• Strong PC skills in Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn accounting system applications.
• Ability to support multiple locations and prioritize multiple tasks.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

Responsibilities

• Support the accounting team in overseeing the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing process.
• Prepare journal entries and reconciliations and complete variance analysis.
• Maintain financial analysis tools and prepare financial reporting packages.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
• Review projects to ensure estimates are accurate and transactions recorded in proper periods.
• Direct and support daily AR/AP operations and vendor relationships.
• Collaborate with Sales, Operations, HR, and others to align financial goals.
• Assist in process improvement projects and prepare audit schedules for external auditors.

LHH is partnering with our Columbus construction client in their search for an Accounting Manager to add to their growing team. The right candidate must be detail oriented, a self-starter, and have excellent organizational skills. The Accounting Manager must demonstrate strong Excel and other Microsoft application skills and be able to work well with others in a fast-paced, growth environment. Candidates with accounting experience in a construction, engineering, or HVAC environment are desired, but not required. Job Description

• Support the accounting team in overseeing the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing process.
• Prepare journal entries and account/balance sheet reconciliations and complete variance analysis.
• Maintain and utilize financial analysis tools to prepare financial reporting packages.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and other internal policies and best practices.
• Perform and supervise reviews of projects to ensure that estimates are maintained accurately and that all job-related transactions are recorded in the appropriate periods.
• Direct and support the accounting team’s daily operations, accounts receivable/accounts payable activity.
• Support the accounting team with monitoring customer collections and vendor payments while maintaining relationships with suppliers and customers.
• Collaborate with other departments (Sales, Operations, HR, etc.) to ensure alignment of business operations and financial goals.
• Assist in and support process improvement projects.
• Prepare audit schedules and provide supporting documentation for external auditors

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required
• CPA license is a bonus, but is not required
• Strong understanding and experience with US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
• Strong PC skills in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn accounting system applications
• A desire and ability to support multiple locations
• High level of initiative with ability to prioritize, multi-task, and deal with ambiguity and manage projects
