Job summary

Connect Search, LLC is seeking an experienced accountant based in Chicago, IL. This full-time, permanent position involves managing real estate accounting, quarterly close for non-profit entities, and various financial reconciliations. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of accounting experience, preferably with a CPA and a strong background in real estate or non-profit organizations. Location: Chicago, IL - Lincoln Park (On-site, 5 days)

Type: Full-Time, Permanent/Direct Hire

Pay Range: Up to $120,000 base salary plus bonus

Key Responsibilities

• Day-to-day accounting and quarterly close for real estate holdings
• Quarter-end close for several not-for-profit entities
• Bank, credit card, and investment account reconciliations
• Inter-company invoices, tenant billings, and receivables tracking
• Journal entries for investments, accruals, and adjustments
• Financial statement narratives and quarterly reporting
• Year-end audit workpapers and external auditor support
• Tenant reconciliations and estimates per lease terms
• Form 1099 preparation
• Collaboration with outside property managers
• Insurance billing and follow-up

Key Qualifications

• 7+ years of accounting experience
• Real estate accounting, not-for-profit accounting, or public accounting (audit) background
• CPA preferred
• Strong general ledger, accruals, and adjusting entry knowledge
• Asset capitalization and depreciation experience
• Strong Excel and accounting software skills
• Family office or private holding company experience is a plus
• Not-for-profit income tax exposure is a plus
