The ideal candidate has 5+ years of accounting experience, strong knowledge of GAAP, and proficiency with Sage ERP and Excel in a fast-paced environment. This is a full-time, on-site position in Chicago, IL.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including management or supervisory experience.
• Strong working knowledge of general accounting principles.
• Hands-on experience with Sage ERP is required.
• Experience working with CRM systems is required.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required.
• Strong understanding of general ledger, AP, AR, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Experience managing month-end and year-end close processes.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee the company's day‑to‑day accounting operations and financial reporting. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing the accounting team, overseeing accounts payable and receivable, supporting month‑end and year‑end close, and providing management with timely financial information.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, hands‑on, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee daily accounting operations, including:
• General ledger
• Accounts payable
• Accounts receivable
• Cash receipts and disbursements
• Bank reconciliations
• Customer and vendor accounts
• Manage the month‑end and year‑end closing process.
• Prepare and review monthly financial statements and management reports.
• Ensure accurate and timely posting of accounting transactions.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies.
• Monitor accounts receivable aging and assist with collections.
• Oversee accounts payable, vendor statements, and payment processing.
• Maintain accurate customer and vendor information within the ERP/CRM systems.
• Utilize Sage ERP for accounting transactions, reporting, financial analysis, and system management.
• Utilize CRM systems to support customer, sales, and financial information flow.
• Create and maintain financial reports, spreadsheets, and analysis using Microsoft Excel.
• Develop and maintain Excel reports using formulas, PivotTables, lookups, and other advanced functions.
• Assist with sales commissions, cash‑flow management, and financial analysis.
• Establish and maintain appropriate accounting controls and procedures.
• Coordinate with sales, operations, purchasing, and management to resolve accounting and customer account issues.
• Assist with tax filings, and other external reporting requirements.
• Monitor accounting policies and ensure compliance with company procedures and applicable accounting standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and system efficiency.
• Provide financial information and analysis to senior management as requested.
• Supervise, train, and develop accounting staff as applicable.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including management or supervisory experience.
• Strong working knowledge of general accounting principles.
• Hands‑on experience with Sage ERP is required.
• Experience working with CRM systems is required.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required.
• Strong understanding of general ledger, AP, AR, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Experience managing month‑end and year‑end close processes.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a manufacturing, distribution, construction, or project‑based business.
• Experience integrating accounting information between Sage ERP, CRM, and Excel.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and cash‑flow management.
• Experience improving accounting processes and implementing internal controls.
• CPA or other professional accounting designation is a plus.
• Sage or comparable ERP software
• Microsoft Excel — advanced proficiency

Preferred

• Experience creating customized financial reports
• Excel PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and other advanced formulas
• Experience working with ERP/CRM data exports and reporting
• Ability to identify and resolve system/data issues
