Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • At least 10 years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including 3+ years in government contracting.
  • Strong GAAP knowledge and DCAA compliance.
  • Experience managing government contracts (FFP, CPFF, T&M).
  • Experience with indirect rate modeling and incurred cost submissions.
  • ERP familiarity; Unanet preferred.
  • Advanced Excel and data visualization skills.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership abilities.

Job description

The Accounting Manager will lead day-to-day accounting operations including functional responsibility over general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll. This role will help to ensure that R&P Technologies has the procedures in place to support accurate and effective monthly and year‑end financial statements as well as executive decision making. The Accounting Manager will collaborate closely with other departments to provide financial insights to support organizational goals and decision‑making.

Responsibilities
  • Core Accounting Leadership
  • Oversee all accounts and subsidiary ledgers and manage daily accounting operations, including AP, AR, and the GL ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and DCAA regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the monthly and annual close process including preparation of financial statements and management reports.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, variance analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations and resolving discrepancies to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Maintain the chart of accounts and ensure consistent coding and classification throughout the company.
  • Partner with department leaders to ensure financial accuracy and operational alignment
  • Analyze financial data for budget variances and provide insight to management on what is driving large variances.
  • Payroll Oversight
  • Supervise the payroll function ensuring accurate, complaint, and timely processing for all employees
  • Review payroll registers, tax filings, and adjustments prior to submission
  • Maintain segregation of duties between HR and payroll
  • Coordinate with HR on onboarding, terminations, leave programs, and benefits changes that impact payroll.
  • Oversee payroll reconciliations, including taxes, garnishments, and benefit carrier invoices.
  • Internal Controls and Compliance
  • Work with leadership in the development, implementation, and monitoring of financial and operational controls.
  • Maintain and strengthen existing internal controls across accounting and payroll processes.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal/state/local tax regulations, and company policies.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs for accounting and payroll functions.
  • Other responsibilities:
  • Development of accounting/finance policies and procedures
  • Support the preparation of indirect rate models, incurred cost submissions, and other government‑mandated reporting requirements.
  • Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations and ensure compliance
  • Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits.
  • Special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in the government contracting industry.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP principles and DCAA compliance requirements.
  • Experience managing government contracts, including FFP, CPFF, and T&M structures
  • Experience with indirect rate modeling, incurred cost submissions, and other FAR‑related reporting.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, Unanet preferred but not required.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and data visualization tools.
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
