Job description

BBB Heart of Texas – Accounting Manager

Reports to: Director of Finance | FLSA Status: Exempt | Salary: $72,500 | Location: Austin, TX – HYBRID (LOCAL ONLY)

We are an equal‑opportunity employer that values diversity. We do not discriminate based on race, religion, ethnicity, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. BBB participates in E‑Verify and will provide the federal government with your I‑9 information to confirm you are authorized to work in the U.S.

Why BBB?

At BBB Heart of Texas, we are more than a recognizable trusted name— we’re a purpose‑driven organization dedicated to fostering trust in the marketplace. Our work makes a real impact on businesses and communities across Central Texas, and our team is at the heart of that mission.

We take pride in offering a supportive, people‑first culture where collaboration, integrity, and transparency guide everything we do. While we may be a smaller organization, that’s exactly what allows us to provide meaningful work, strong team connections, and the flexibility and work‑life balance that many larger organizations simply can’t match.

Here, your contributions are visible, valued, and tied directly to our mission. You won’t just be managing numbers—you’ll help shape how we operate and grow.

Who are you?

BBB Heart of Texas is seeking a well‑rounded, experienced Accounting Manager who thrives in a collaborative, hands‑on environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both leading and doing—someone who values being a trusted advisor while also staying close to the day‑to‑day financial operations.

You are a relationship‑builder who establishes credibility quickly and brings a service‑oriented mindset to your work. You’re comfortable wearing multiple hats, navigating a variety of accounting functions, and stepping in wherever needed to support a small but high‑performing team.

About the position

As our Accounting Manager, you will play a key leadership role in maintaining the financial health and integrity of the organization. In our lean accounting team, this position offers the unique opportunity to engage across the full accounting cycle—from payroll and reconciliations to financial reporting and analysis.

You will lead core financial processes including payroll administration, month‑end close, account reconciliations, and performance analysis. Your attention to detail and commitment to accuracy will be essential in strengthening internal controls, improving reporting reliability, and ensuring compliance with established policies.

This role goes beyond traditional accounting management—you will partner across departments to provide actionable financial insights that support strategic decision‑making and organizational success. You will also oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, guiding coordinators to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and accountability in all transactions.

Additionally, you will take an active role in enhancing our financial systems and processes—identifying opportunities for improvement, resolving system challenges, and implementing solutions that increase efficiency and clarity. By tracking key performance indicators, analyzing discrepancies, and recommending improvements, you will help foster a culture of financial transparency and continuous improvement throughout the organization.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Conduct root‑cause analysis of discrepancies or inefficiencies in financial processes and implement corrective actions to improve the accuracy and efficiency of financial operations.
  • Actively collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure financial strategies align with the organization’s broader goals, providing financial insights and reporting that support decision‑making. Contribute to audit preparation, financial statement review, and other key financial management tasks as needed.
Additional Duties
  • Ensure continuous development of financial processes to improve overall organizational effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with various departments to align financial strategies with company goals.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to the AP and AR teams, fostering an environment of growth and efficiency.
