About CAC

The Center for Action and Contemplation (CAC) exists to support transformation and inspire loving action in the world through the teaching of Christian contemplative wisdom and practices.

Internally, we're committed to creating a healthy workplace grounded in the same values we share with the world—one built on trust, curiosity, collaboration, and respect. Our mission guides everything we do, but it's our people who bring that mission to life each day.

About the Opportunity

The Center for Action and Contemplation (CAC) is looking for a thoughtful, collaborative, and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our growing Finance team.

This is more than a traditional accounting role. As CAC continues to evolve, we're reimagining how our Finance team operates, creating an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys improving processes, bringing fresh ideas to the table, and helping build scalable financial operations.

You’ll partner closely with our Controller and Accounting team to support payroll, month-end close, reconciliations, and day-to-day accounting operations. You’ll also serve as a trusted resource to our AP and AR specialists, helping ensure our financial processes are accurate, efficient, and positioned to support CAC’s long‑term mission.

If you enjoy working independently, taking ownership, and making meaningful improvements while supporting an organization that creates positive impact around the world, we’d love to meet you.

Who You Are
  • You are an experienced accountant who enjoys balancing accuracy with continuous improvement.
  • You take ownership of your work and don’t wait to be told what needs to happen next.
  • You’re equally comfortable rolling up your sleeves to complete day‑to‑day accounting responsibilities while also identifying opportunities to make systems and processes better.
  • You enjoy collaborating with others, sharing knowledge, and helping teammates succeed.
  • You communicate clearly, approach challenges with curiosity, and thrive in environments where your ideas are genuinely valued.
What You’ll Do
Accounting Operations
  • Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
  • Prepare account reconciliations and ensure financial records remain accurate and complete
  • Assist with general ledger accounting and journal entries
  • Help maintain strong internal controls and accounting best practices
Payroll & Financial Administration
  • Own payroll processing and ensure employees are paid accurately and on time
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to resolve payroll-related questions
  • Support tax filings and payroll compliance activities
AP & AR Partnership
  • Work closely with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable team members
  • Review reconciliations and day-to-day accounting activity
  • Help troubleshoot issues and ensure smooth financial operations across the team
Process Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve efficiency
  • Recommend and implement thoughtful process improvements as the Finance team evolves
  • Partner with leadership to help build scalable accounting practices for the future
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Experience supporting month-end close and account reconciliations
  • Experience processing payroll
  • Strong understanding of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Nice to Have
  • Experience working in a nonprofit organization
  • Experience using Sage Intacct
  • Experience with investment reconciliations
  • Experience with Rippling or similar payroll platforms
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, Shopify, Avalara, or PayPal
Why You’ll Love This Role

This is an opportunity to join a mission-driven organization where your work has meaningful impact beyond the numbers.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Help shape the future of CAC’s Finance operations
  • Bring new ideas and influence how processes evolve
  • Work alongside a collaborative, supportive team
  • Enjoy the flexibility of a fully remote work environment
  • Contribute to an organization making a meaningful difference in communities around the world
