Brookfield Properties in Chicago is offering an Accounting Intern position supporting the Accounting function on project-based assignments. Interns receive training, mentorship, and opportunities to network with professionals through organized events.

During the internship, you will work with an assigned mentor to complete a project and present findings to executive leadership. This role emphasizes collaboration, accountability, and hands-on learning in a real estate finance environment.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in College or University as a Senior Accounting Student with graduation dates December 2026 through May 2027.
• Self-motivated and proactive in workload management and professional development.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication ability and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to coordinate multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Support Accounting department in ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures and resolving accounting related issues.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting activities.
• Assist in the monthly preparation of reporting including Consolidated Financial Statements, Variance Reports, Balance Sheet Workpapers, Bank Reconciliations.
• Load and validate property level financials.
• Prepare Journal Entries, Wires, and Reconcile Cash Activity.
• Reconcile information to aid in the Year End Close.
• Ad hoc projects as needed.

Job Description

As an Accounting Intern, you will work largely on a project-based assignment supporting our Accounting function. During the internship, individuals will receive training and work on various projects that directly impact the business. Summer interns are immediately a part of our collaborative culture and build enduring relationships with their fellow interns, manager, and an assigned mentor. Summer interns also have the opportunity to network with various professionals through organized social events. Finally, the intern will work with an assigned mentor to complete a project and present their findings with other interns to the executive leadership team.

Compensation

Salary type: Non-Exempt

Pay Frequency: Bi-weekly

Hourly Compensation: $22.50
