The Accounting Intern supports client engagement teams by developing foundational tax, assurance, and accounting capabilities while applying analytical thinking and sound judgment under supervision. This role enhances the firm’s client service delivery by producing accurate workpapers, learning to use PBMares-approved technologies, including AI-assisted tools with required human review and contributing to engagement efficiency. The intern gains exposure to diverse industries, builds professional skills, and supports high-quality output that aligns with firm standards and strategic priorities.

Client Service Excellence

• Support engagement teams in delivering timely, accurate work that meets client expectations.

Technical Expertise

• Apply developing knowledge of tax law, accounting principles, and auditing standards to assigned work.

• Assist with evaluating internal controls and identifying potential issues under supervision.
• Use PBMares-approved AI tools appropriately, ensuring all AI-assisted output is reviewed for accuracy and compliance.
• Demonstrate increasing proficiency with firm technology, including audit/tax software and Microsoft Office.

Required Education and Experience

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting (rising junior or senior).
• On track to meet requirements for CPA exam eligibility.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Reliable transportation for client site visits.

Preferred Education and Experience

• GPA of 3.5 or higher.
• Exposure to QuickBooks or similar accounting software.

What we require

• Must be a rising Junior, Senior, or recent graduate with a major in accounting at an accredited institution
• Must have a current and graduate with a GPA of 3.0 or higher

• Ability to work 25-30 per week for 10 weeks (Early June through mid-August)
