Job summary

The Iowa Department of Transportation is seeking an Accounting Intern to join the Project Management Bureau. You will be exposed to project management cost accounting systems, ledgers, cost centers, object codes and interconnected accounting processes.

You will perform reconciliations, compliance auditing, and determine allowable costs, plus assist with contract administration, invoice processing, cost forecasting, and organizing contract records.

Qualifications

• Proficient with Excel and basic accounting software
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and with teams

Responsibilities

• Consultant coordination support in the Project Management Bureau.
• Aid the consultant coordination section in administering contracts.
• Review contracts for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with federal audit regulations.
• Process invoices daily.
• Compile consultant cost and forecasting future budgets.
• Organize and indexing contract records for permanent storage.
