Job summary

Lending is seeking an Intern, Accounting (Cash Operations) to support the Accounting team while gaining hands-on experience in a professional setting in Kennesaw, GA. You will assist with cash postings, journal entries, and reconciliations, contributing to month-end close and process improvements.

Qualifications include enrollment in a Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance, strong Excel skills, and interest in accounting operations.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Strong academic performance and interest in accounting, finance, or related business operations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard office software; experience with an ERP or general ledger system (e.g., NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Oracle) is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily cash receipts and disbursements across operational bank accounts and trust/collection accounts.
• Monitor bank activity and cash balances and research unidentified or unapplied cash items.
• Support coordination with Treasury, Loan Servicing, and Operations related to cash movements and sweeps.
• Prepare recurring and non-recurring monthly journal entries in accordance with GAAP and internal policies.
• Maintain organized, audit-ready supporting documentation and workpapers for cash postings and journal entries.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes within deadlines.
• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations for cash, trust/collection accounts, prepaids, and other accounts.
• Research reconciling items and clear variances; escalate unresolved items to Accounting Manager/Controller.
• Maintain reconciliation documentation and support accounting procedures.
• Participate in ad hoc projects, system implementations, and process improvement initiatives.
