Job summary

Barrett Paving Materials Inc. in Middletown, OH is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Intern to support our finance team.

This internship provides hands-on experience in accounting, financial reporting, and business operations within the construction industry. You will process invoices, assist with month-end close, help prepare statements, and maintain accurate records using Excel and our accounting software.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Interest in construction, paving, or infrastructure industries is a plus
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information

Responsibilities

• Assist with processing invoices, expenses, and vendor payments
• Help prepare financial statements and reports
• Support the reconciliation of bank accounts and general ledger accounts
• Enter and maintain accurate data in accounting systems
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
• Help maintain and organize digital and physical financial records
• Participate in audits by preparing documentation and supporting materials
• Assist in analyzing financial data for budgeting and forecasting
• Collaborate with accounting staff to support daily accounting operations
• Complete other accounting or finance-related tasks as assigned by supervisors
