Job summary

Trinity Capital Inc. is seeking a part-time Accounting Intern to join our Finance Department in Phoenix, Arizona. The internship provides hands-on experience in GAAP accounting, financial reporting, and exposure to treasury and FP&A activities.

You will assist with daily accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, and SOX controls while developing advanced Excel skills and ERP familiarity. Ideal candidates are accounting majors with a 3.5+ GPA who are detail-oriented and well organized.

Qualifications

  • Solid working knowledge of GAAP and strong financial analysis skills.
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized and able to perform under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in day-to-day accounting and loan servicing.
  • Assist with month-end close, GAAP financial statements, and supporting documentation.
  • Perform account reconciliations and variance analyses.
  • Help ensure AP activities comply with internal controls and SOX requirements.
  • Collaborate with FP&A, Valuations, and Treasury teams on projects.

We are looking for an eager professional to join our world-class team as a part-time Accounting Intern in Phoenix, Arizona.

Job Description

The Accounting Internship offers hands-on experience in the Trinity Capital Finance Department focusing on Financial Accounting & Reporting with exposure to Treasury, Financial Planning & Analysis, and Investment Valuation. The Intern will develop a broad understanding of corporate accounting, treasury and reporting operations as well as gain experience within ERP systems and financial reporting tools.

To be successful as an Accounting Intern, you should have a solid working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and strong financial analysis skills including strong Excel skills, be detail-oriented, highly organized, and perform under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in day-to-day accounting and loan servicing.
  • Assist with monthly and quarterly closing procedures, GAAP financial statements, and the preparation of supporting documentation.
  • Perform account reconciliations and variance analyses.
  • Help ensure AP activities comply with internal controls and SOX requirements.
  • Perform other accounting duties as required or assigned.
  • Collaborate with FP&A, Valuations, and Treasury teams on projects.

Experience

  • Upperclassman in Accounting Major
  • Overall GPA of 3.5 or better (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Knowledge of financial statement production, including balance sheet; income statement; and general ledger
  • Financial analysis skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel
  • Completion of Intermediate Accounting or equivalent preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, talk, utilize a computer, and read computer screens for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.

Other

Schedule Requirements: Up to 28 hours/week
