Job summary

GreatAmerica Financial Services is seeking an Accounting Intern to join our collaborative Accounting team. The intern will receive mentorship and independently own recurring responsibilities while strengthening accounting knowledge and practical Excel skills.

As an Accounting Intern, you will perform general ledger reconciliations, participate in month-end closing, assist with annual financial statement audits, and prepare monthly reporting for various external customer programs.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's or graduate degree in Accounting with a minimum GPA of 3.25.
• No prior work experience required, internship or finance/accounting exposure is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a proactive attitude.

Responsibilities

• General ledger account reconciliation.
• Participate in month end closing.
• Assist with annual financial statement audit.
• Prepare and audit recurring operational reports.
• Prepare monthly reporting for external customer programs.
• Participate in Accounting team strategic initiatives.
• Provide an outstanding GreatAmerica experience to all customers.

As an Accounting Intern, you will:

• General ledger account reconciliation

• Prepare monthly reporting for various external customer programs

To be successful in this role you will need:

• Education: Candidate must be pursuing a bachelor's degree or graduate degree in Accounting with a minimum GPA of 3.25
• Experience: No previous work experience required, but prior internships or work in finance/accounting are considered a plus
• Computer Skills: Experience with Microsoft Excel
• Other Requirements: Must be detail oriented and have strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Must demonstrate initiative, respond well to challenges and have a strong desire to learn
• Must demonstrate sound business judgment
