Job Summary

The ideal Accounting Intern is eager to learn and interested in gaining hands‑on experience in accounting. This person is organized, detail-oriented, and able to work well with others. They should be comfortable learning new tasks, adapting to changing priorities, and asking questions when needed. A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and strong attention to detail are important for success in this role.

Position Details:

This is an entry-level role. This position is fully onsite. We are ideally looking for someone who can work 15-30 hours per week, with an anticipated start date in early September and an initial commitment through mid-January. There may be an opportunity to extend the position based on performance and business needs.

Pay:

18.00/hour.

Job Duties
  • Assist the Staff Accountant with timely collection of accounts receivable.
  • Request statements and invoices from vendors.
  • Maintain outstanding check listing.
  • Filing of payables in paperless system.
  • Filing of other miscellaneous finance information (ie W-9s, 1099s, certificates of insurance).
  • Assist Accounting Assistant with maintaining open jobs list.
  • Enter cycle count audit data.
  • Maintain list of slow moving and obsolete inventory.
  • Data entry ERP system.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Impact
  • Communicates with Accounting Supervisor to gain approval/escalate necessary changes for project.
Safety Responsibilities
  • Following all rules, regulations and procedures set forth in the safety manual.
  • Promoting safety awareness throughout the workplace.
  • Alerting supervisors to any safety hazards they discover.
  • Wearing appropriate, proper protective equipment whenever required.
  • Using guards on tools and machinery whenever required.
  • Following proper lifting techniques using legs and not the back.
  • Operating any vehicles, equipment, tools or machines only if they are authorized to do so.
  • Reporting any injury or loss immediately to the supervisor/team lead.
  • Promoting a positive attitude about safety and never performing any unsafe practice that could place the employee or others in danger.
  • Providing information to his/her immediate supervisor if a better and safer procedure can be implemented in performing any operation.
Independent Judgment
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Analysis/Problem Solving
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Communication
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Skills/Technical Skills
  • Computer skills necessary to operate the system database/email programs and software.
  • Troubleshooting skills
Knowledge
  • Understands regulated type industries a plus.
  • Knowledge of medical device manufacturer and supplies knowledge a plus.
  • World-class manufacturing knowledge a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Education
  • Enrolled in an Associates or Bachelor's degree program in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline.
Experience
  • Some practical experience in finance/ project management a plus.
