Job summary

Lehigh Valley Public Media is offering a paid accounting internship to gain hands-on experience in financial reporting, compliance, and analysis. The selected candidate will assist with AP/AR, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close, while learning to use Sage, Xero, and QuickBooks in a professional setting.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Coursework or experience in corporate accounting or public accounting.
  • Proficiency with Excel and basic financial reporting.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable management processes.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial data.
  • Enter journal entries and maintain the general ledger using accounting software such as Sage, Xero, or other financial systems.
  • Help with balance sheet reconciliation and financial report writing and interpretation.
  • Support month-end closing activities, including accruals and debits & credits analysis.
  • Handle confidential information with integrity and ensure adherence to accounting standards and policies.
  • All other duties as assigned.

JOB SUMMARY (Two/Three Lines):
  • This paid internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various accounting functions, including financial reporting, compliance, and analysis.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, familiarity with financial software, and an eagerness to develop their skills within a professional environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES (Tasks):
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable management processes.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial data.
  • Enter journal entries and maintain the general ledger using accounting software such as Sage, Xero, or other financial systems.
  • Help with balance sheet reconciliation and financial report writing and interpretation.
  • Support month-end closing activities, including accruals and debits & credits analysis.
  • Handle confidential information with integrity and ensure adherence to accounting standards and policies.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Experience
  • Pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; recent graduates are also encouraged to apply.
  • Prior experience or coursework in corporate accounting, public accounting, or financial software such as QuickBooks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, with the ability to perform basic data analysis and financial reporting tasks
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to communicate effectively and maintain confidentiality

OTHER WORK REQUIREMENTS:
  • As you will/may be driving a company vehicle or your own vehicle on a regular basis, a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record as determined by a driver’s license background check is required for this position.
  • All team members must successfully pass a background check (7 years), FBI fingerprint clearance and PA child clearance.
