Job description

Position Overview

Under general supervision, provides instruction to students in the classroom and lab settings, prepares syllabi and lesson plans, develops program goals and objectives, and evaluates students' progress in attaining those goals. The instructor must possess the ability to teach all phases of the curriculum, demonstrate appropriate teaching techniques, use proper testing and grading procedures, maintain grade books and other record‑keeping, and communicate effectively in writing and orally. The instructor follows the approved course syllabus, meets all professional development requirements, discusses instructional programs with students and college personnel, completes all required reports and invoices on time, and maintains accurate inventory of assigned properties. Qualifications for employment must be maintained as described by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) Policy Manual and accreditation standards, and all rules and regulations of the institution must be followed. The position may involve teaching traditional day and/or evening classes or online classes and will require travel within the college's service area and additional travel as needed.

Location & Work

This position generally works normal business day hours of 7:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 7:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday. Additional hours or a flexible schedule to include evenings may be required as needed. The position will be assigned to the Macon campus and may require travel to any of the locations within the College's service area. It will work all 12 calendar months per year and 40 hours per week.

Teaching assignments may include teaching, and required travel, to one or more campus/site locations, including dual enrollment programs and assigned locations, or any combination thereof. They may also include a combination of face‑to‑face and distance instructional delivery methods. Faculty may be assigned to any campus/site based on the business needs of the college.

Standard Academic Qualification

Standard academic qualifications are required unless the applicant meets the criteria listed below under Other Qualifications.

Other Qualifications

Applicants who do not meet the standard academic qualification may be considered under the following criteria:

  • Earned a master’s degree in Accounting from an academic institution that is accredited by an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education.
  • Earned a master’s degree with a concentration (a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours) in Accounting from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education with demonstrated competence in teaching the discipline, including current nationally recognized certification and/or documented work experience in the field.

*Candidate must upload the CGTC Faculty Qualification‑Equivalency Form and supporting documentation with their CGTC application to demonstrate qualifications specific to the teaching discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference may be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, provide transcripts of conferred degrees and demonstrate in the employment history possession of one or more of the following:

  • Documented teaching experience at the postsecondary level
Benefits

Target annual gross salary in the mid $50s. Actual gross salary will be determined by the candidate's highest qualifying degree and related work experience based on published minimum and preferred qualifications. This is a full‑time position scheduled to work 12 months a year and 40 hours per week. Position is eligible for state benefits, including insurance, leave accrual, retirement, and holiday pay. CGTC is a member of the Teachers Retirement System of Georgia (TRS) and the Employees Retirement System of Georgia (ERS).
