Job summary

Smith & Wilkinson, a fast-growing, private equity-backed specialty insurance MGA platform, seeks an Accounting Director to partner with the Controller, CFO, and MGA leaders across accounting, financial reporting, and acquisition integration.

The role supports monthly, quarterly, and annual close, oversees journal entries, reconciliations, intercompany activity, and accounts payable, and helps with consolidated reporting and post-acquisition integration. This is a fully remote position.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting experience within an MGA, P&C carrier with a program division, private equity, or brokerage with meaningful post-acquisition integration experience.
• Strong GAAP, financial reporting, general ledger and ERP experience required.

Responsibilities

• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Oversee journal entries, account reconciliations, roll forwards and intercompany accounting.
• Manage accounts payable and assist with consolidated financial reporting.
• Help integrate and clean up newly acquired businesses.

The role will support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes; oversee journal entries, account reconciliations, roll forwards, intercompany accounting, and accounts payable; assist with consolidated financial reporting and complex accounting matters; and help integrate and clean up newly acquired businesses.

Candidates must have at least 7 years of progressive accounting experience within an MGA, a property & casualty carrier with a program division, private equity, or brokerage with meaningful post-acquisition integration experience. Strong GAAP, financial reporting, general ledger, and ERP experience is required, and a CPA is preferred.
